ACT MALAYSIA'S VISION

To be a trusted catalyst for compassionate action and sustainable community development, mobilising volunteerism, innovation and partnerships to empower vulnerable and underserved communities.

We envision peaceful, inclusive, resilient and self-reliant communities where people can live with dignity,
have equitable access to basic needs, education, safe water and sanitation, a healthy environment, and opportunities to improve their quality of life.

OUR MISSION

ACT Malaysia works with communities and partners to transform compassion into meaningful and sustainable action. Our mission is:

  • To alleviate hardship and respond to humanitarian needs by providing food, essential assistance and support to vulnerable families, orphans and communities affected by poverty, disasters and other crises.

  • To improve quality of life and strengthen community resilience through programmes addressing basic needs, health, education, livelihood opportunities and community development.

  • To expand access to education and human development, particularly for children, youth, orphans and disadvantaged communities, through educational assistance, scholarships, capacity-building and opportunities for personal growth.

  • To improve access to safe water, sanitation and essential community infrastructure through practical, appropriate and sustainable solutions that protect public health and the environment.

  • To promote environmental responsibility and sustainable resource management through waste reduction, responsible consumption, environmental awareness, appropriate technology and community-based environmental initiatives.

  • To strengthen volunteerism, community participation and local ownership, enabling communities to become active partners in identifying challenges, developing solutions and building greater self-reliance.

  • To promote peace, social inclusion and solidarity by strengthening relationships across communities and supporting initiatives that foster understanding, dignity and peaceful coexistence.

  • To build meaningful partnerships with communities, government agencies, universities, civil society, international organisations and the private sector to increase knowledge, innovation, resources and long-term impact.

OUR ORGANIZATIONAL PRINCIPLES

Compassion and Humanity
We place human dignity and the well-being of communities at the heart of our work.

Equality and Inclusion
We strive to ensure that vulnerable and underserved communities have equitable opportunities to participation and benefit from development.

Integrity, Transparency and Accountability

We are committed to responsible stewardship of resources, openness in our actions and accountability to our donors, partners and communities.

Volunteerism and Service

We believe that individuals can create meaningful change when compassion is translated into voluntary action and service to others.

Community Empowerment and Participation

We work with communities, not merely for communities, encouraging local participation, ownership and the development of long-term community capacity.

Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility

We seek solutions that address immediate needs while considering their long-term social, economic and environmental impact.

Partnership and Collaboration
We recognise that complex social and environmental challenges require cooperation across communities, institutions, sectors and borders.

Respect
We respect the dignity, culture, values, knowledge and aspirations of the communities and partners with whom we work.

OUR APPROACH

From Relief to Resilience
From
Compassion to Action
From
Assistance to Empowerment

ACT Malaysia believes that humanitarian assistance should not end with meeting an immediate need. Wherever possible, our programmes seek to help communities develop the knowledge, capacity, infrastructure and partnerships needed to build a more resilient, sustainable and self-reliant future.
